The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has confirmed that the sexual assault case involving a TikToker identified as Mirabel has been transferred to police authorities in Ogun for investigation.

Providing an update on Wednesday, the agency said it had established communication with a close friend of the survivor following its initial statement on the viral video.

According to the DSVA, the friend confirmed that Mirabel had been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment.

The DSVA, however, clarified that preliminary findings showed the alleged rape occurred in Ogun and not Lagos, placing the matter outside its jurisdiction.

“In the spirit of inter-agency collaboration and survivor protection, all relevant information at our disposal has been forwarded to the appropriate authorities in Ogun State,” the DSVA statement said.

The agency added that the case was now being handled by the police command in Ogun, which has commenced its investigation.

Confirming police involvement, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the lady was transferred to the appropriate police formation after receiving initial medical care.

“Following preliminary treatment, she was subsequently conveyed to the Ogijo Police Station, being the jurisdiction where the incident occurred, for proper documentation and continuation of investigative procedures,” he said.

Mr Babaseyi added that due to the victim’s condition, she has been transferred for more extensive medical care to help her recover and aid the ongoing investigation.

Earlier on her page, the TikToker said she drank Sniper following the alleged rape, but a friend rushed her to the hospital, where she was being treated.

Mr Babaseyi reassured the public that the command is committed to the survivor’s safety and well-being, noting that efforts are ongoing to ensure anyone found guilty is brought to justice.
