Time magazine has listed Nigeria’s President-elect Bola Tinubu among its 100 Most Influential People in 2023.

Time, in naming Mr Tinubu among its 2023 100 Most Influential People on Thursday, said the Nigeria’s President-elect won an election “marred by allegations of intimidation and vote rigging.”

According to Time, Tinubu’s win with the ruling All Progressives Congress came in a fraught election and by a slim margin over Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

“It was the first time Nigerian voters contended with a third-party candidate, and many discontented young Nigerians yearning for change pinned their hopes on Obi. Marred by allegations of intimidation and vote rigging, the outcome of the ballot is being challenged in court,” the magazine said.

On March 1, Mr Tinubu was announced winner of the February 25th presidential election, amidst protest by opposition parties, challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for failing to upload election results on its server.

Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party have approached the presidential election tribunal, challenging Mr Tinubu’s victory.

However, Mr Tinubu has dismissed violence and rigging claims as immaterial to his victory, while suing for peace with opposition parties.

UberFacts, a reputable fact-promoting platform, at midnight Monday, tweeted that  “Bola Ahmed Tinubu surrendered $460,000 to the US government after a Chicago court found the income came from heroin trafficking” in 1993.

To buttress its revelation, UberFacts reshared an article by Peoples Gazette detailing how a U.S. Court released certified true copies of Mr Tinubu’s drug dealing and money-laundering encounter.
