Tinubu appoints Aliyu PTDF executive secretary, renews TCN boss’ tenure

President Bola Tinubu has named Shu’aibu Aliyu as executive secretary of the PTDF, succeeding Ahmed Aminu, who resigned to seek the 2027 Adamawa governorship.
Mr Aliyu replaces Ahmed Aminu, who recently resigned to pursue the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa.
The president also renewed Sule Abdulaziz’s appointment as managing director and chief executive officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
The renewal grants Mr Abdulaziz a second and final term in office, following a performance review described by the presidency as satisfactory.
Both appointments took immediate effect, according to a statement on Thursday.
Mr Aliyu is an academic and administrator with extensive experience in research, education, and institutional leadership.
According to the statement, Mr Tinubu expects the new PTDF boss to reposition the organisation for greater impact in human capital development, innovation, and strategic support for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The president said the appointment aligned with broader national priorities to enhance local capacity and drive sustainable growth in the energy sector.
On the power sector, the president said Mr Abdulaziz’s tenure was renewed following a comprehensive assessment of his leadership of the national transmission network.
Mr Abdulaziz is credited with strengthening Nigeria’s role in the West African Power Pool through strategic leadership and collaboration.
Mr Tinubu urged both appointees to serve diligently, with integrity, and with a commitment to national service.
He said their roles are vital to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda and improving key sector services.
