Tinubu appoints governing councils for universities of education in Kano, Zaria

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Abdurrazaq Nakore as Pro-Chancellor and chairman of the governing council of Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano.
He also approved the appointment of Abdullahi Kodage as the new Vice Chancellor of the institution.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued by presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to the statement, Mr Nakore, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, was executive secretary of the Rural Electricity Board in Jigawa State.
Mr Tinubu also appointed Yahaya Bunkure as Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Kaduna State.
Mr Bunkure is a respected academic in science education and currently serves as Vice Chancellor of Saadatu Rimi University of Education, Kano.
The Federal University of Education, Zaria, and Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano, were among four colleges upgraded to universities between 2022 and 2023.
“In accordance with the institution’s governing laws, the Pro-Chancellor will serve a term of four years, while the Vice-Chancellors will serve for five years.”
