Tinubu asks Ahmad Lawan to ‘lick your wound’ after primary triumph
Bola Tinubu on Wednesday asked Senate President Ahmad Lawan to lick his wound after beating him to the ruling All Progressives Congress’ presidential ticket.
“Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan, I would have been a little upset because you compete (sic) with me but that is over now since you can easily lick your wound. It doesn’t take away from thanking you for the past cooperation, collaboration, and cool-headedness to build our country,” Mr Tinubu said during his acceptance remark.
Mr Tinubu scored 1,271 votes to beat Mr Lawan and other aspirants at the APC convention that concluded today in Abuja.
He, however, said he will work with the Senate President to secure victory for the ruling party again in 2023.
“You’ve helped to steer the ship of this nation in the right direction. And with your team in the Senate, history is written and it will be kind to you,” he added.
