Tinubu committed to strengthening institutional frameworks for national development: Hadiza Usman

President Bola Tinubu is committed to strengthening institutional frameworks and positioning public policy as a driver of national development.
Hadiza Usman, special adviser to the president on policy and coordination, said this at the Stakeholders’ Validation Session on the Draft National Policy Development and Management Framework in Abuja.
Recognising that sound policymaking is central to good governance, she said, Mr Tinubu is actively addressing long-standing gaps within the policy ecosystem.
She said these include policy inconsistency, inadequate clarity around formulation and implementation processes, and the absence of unified standards across government institutions.
The presidential aide explained that the document results from extensive collaboration between her office, that of the secretary to the government of the federation and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies.
Others were the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office, the Partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Engagement and the National Economic Summit Group.
Ms Usman stressed that the development and validation of the framework represents a key milestone in the ongoing efforts to institutionalise an effective governance process.
She also said it would ensure that public policies translate into real, measurable benefits for Nigerians.
According to her, the validation session is a concrete step towards institutionalising a governance culture that is adaptive, coordinated, and ultimately transformative.
She noted that a review of Nigeria’s policy landscape revealed a significant gap.
The presidential aide maintained that the true pleasure of policy lies not only in how well it is written but in how effectively it is implemented and the impact it has on the lives of citizens.
The framework, she said, serves as a road map for ensuring that Nigerian policies are fit for purpose.
She said the framework is structured and people-centered.
