Tinubu congratulates Oyebanji on re-election victory, hails peaceful conduct of poll

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his resounding victory in Saturday’s Ekiti State gubernatorial election.
Mr Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress was declared the winner after polling a total of 319,224 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party’s Oluwole Oluyede and the African Democratic Congress’s Oludare Bejide who secured 40,543 and 12,872 respectively.
Mr Tinubu, in a statement issued by his spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Sunday, also commended the people of Ekiti State for their peaceful and orderly conduct, and for reposing their trust in Mr Oyebanji.
While lauding the law enforcement agencies for maintaining law and order, the president also charged the Independent National Electoral Commission to continue to invest in conducting a peaceful, free, fair and credible election ahead of the Osun governorship and the 2027 general elections.
Accoding to the statement, Mr Oyebanji had emerged as the first governor in the history of state to win re-election back-to-back.
The president noted the governor’s first term was marked by significant strides in infrastructure, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare, and rural development under the BAO agenda.
“The renewed mandate is therefore a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability, and people-centred governance,” the statement added.
While urging Mr Oyebanji to remain magnanimous in victory and to carry all Ekiti people along as he consolidates on his achievements in the next four years, Mr Tinubu also commended all those who contested the election with the governor for exercising their democratic rights.
He reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to partnering with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more dividends of democracy and accelerate the Renewed Hope Agenda across Nigeria.
