Tinubu departs for Europe ahead of Abu Dhabi summit

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday departed Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year break and ahead of his official visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
According to a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the president is scheduled to participate in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit.
His visit follows an invitation by the president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
ADSW 2026, which will be held early in January, is a week-long global platform that convenes leaders from government, business, and civil society to shape the future of sustainable development.
The summit will be held under the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” focusing on linking ambition with action across innovation, finance, and human capital.
The forum is expected to showcase pathways for advancing sustainable growth and global cooperation in a rapidly evolving world.
Mr Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the summit.
