President Bola Tinubu has congratulated educationist and pioneer member of the Universal Primary Education programme, Dennis Okoro, on his 90th birthday.

In a statement on Tuesday by the president’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Mr Tinubu extolled the celebrant’s remarkable life, commitment to service, knowledge, dedication and lasting contributions to advancing education in the country.

Mr Tinubu said the celebrant, who clocked 90 on March 31, shaped the minds of young Nigerians, empowered institutions, and played a key role in making universal primary education a reality in Nigeria.

“Your legacy is established in the minds you have shaped, institutions strengthened, and particularly your pivotal role in the implementation of universal primary education, giving generations of pupils access to basic foundational knowledge,” Mr Tinubu said.

The president noted that Mr Okoro’s lifestyle continues to serve “as a shining example of patriotism and selfless service for younger generations to emulate”.

“On this significant occasion, we honour your enduring legacy, celebrate your invaluable contributions, and express profound gratitude for a life so richly lived in service to education and humanity,” Mr Tinubu stated. “May the Almighty God continue to fill your days with peace, dignity, and good health.”
