Pastor of Light Nation Church, Femi Lazarus, has dismissed America’s claim of Christian genocide in Nigeria.

The cleric said when the U.S. was complaining about a country like Nigeria, it meant the government is “doing something right.”

In a sermon titled, “Operating in the corridors of power,” Mr Lazarus said U.S. was not innocent in its campaign against Christian genocide, describing the action as a decoy for American to divide Nigeria.

The clergyman stated, “You know recently there has been a clamour by America that they are killings Christians in Nigeria. It is not innocent. They (America) are showing interest because they know that would divide the country so they can come in. Anywhere they step, burn.

“Be careful. Be careful, lest they are seen to be bringing help, but the idea is to penetrate and keep you bound. There are countries that once they complain about your country, you are doing something  right.”

The cleric accused the American government of deliberately frustrating the fight against Boko Haram in the past decade.

“When Goodluck Jonathan was in power and Nigeria needed to buy certain things to use in fighting that battle, the one who blocked us was America,” Mr Lazarus claimed.

“When we got mercenaries from another country, I don’t want to mention the name of the country, and they were having victory in Sambisa, the one who asked them to be sacked later was America,” he said.

But the Christian Association of Nigeria backed U.S. claim that there was Christian genocide in the country. 

The U.S. President, Donald Trump also re-designated Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern over alleged Christian genocide. American lawmakers, Ted Cruz, Riley Moore, Nancy Mace and others led the campaign that saw to the re-designation.

Mr. Trump also threatened military invasion to confront terrorists targeting Christians in Nigeria should Mr Bola Tinubu’s government fail to halt the alleged killings.
