President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the founder of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, on his 85th birthday, describing him as a ‘remarkable servant of God’.

Mr Tinubu, in a statement on Saturday, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Mr Kumuyi’s values, which had impacted his ministry for over five decades, had also transformed lives.

The president said he “warmly rejoices with Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, a remarkable servant of God, a visionary founder, and General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Ministry, as he clocks 85 on June 6, 2026.”

He added, “Pastor Kumuyi’s enduring legacy of unwavering faith, wisdom, and dedication has shaped a thriving ministry for over 50 years.

“As the convener of Global Crusade and Kumuyi (GCK), your voice has reached beyond the church walls and national borders, bringing hope and encouragement to millions across the world.

“Your writings have illuminated minds, inspired hearts, and provided timeless guidance to those seeking truth and purpose. Pastor Kumuyi’s ministry and influence have also transformed lives, restored families, inspired leaders and strengthened the faith of generations of believers.”

“On this special day, I pray that Almighty God continues to grant you strength, divine health, peace, and abundant grace.”

Born in Erin-Ijesha, Osun State, in 1941, Mr Kumuyi, while a mathematics lecturer at the University of Lagos, founded the church as a campus fellowship in 1973; it has since grown and spread to over 150 countries.
