Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesman for Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, has slammed President Bola Tinubu as the worst president since Nigeria’s independence.

Mr Tinubu, in his maiden media chat on Monday, claimed his administration is on the right track to tackling the country’s woes.

“We are focussed, we’ll maintain focus. Let’s believe in ourselves and our country. Tomorrow will bring a glorious dawn. “It is just 18 months I’ve taken the reign. 2025 is a very promising year,” the president said.

Noting his administration has improved security in the country, Mr Tinubu assured Nigerians that inflation, currently at 34 per cent, would trend downward to 10 per cent as envisaged in the 2025 budget.

In an interview aired on Channels TV on Tuesday, Mr Okonkwo slammed the president for scoring himself high.

“The worst statement the president made during his first presidential media chat is scoring himself ‘excellent’. President Tinubu has done the worst job by any president since independence,” he declared.

Mr Okonkwo cited recurrent grip collapse and worsening insecurity as manifestations of Mr Tinubu’s failure, accusing the president of costly extravagance.

“In the last twelve months, we have had national grid collapse more than 12 times. It has never happened in the history of the country, meaning the power isn’t accessible, available and available”.

“Between October, for a president priding himself that security has improved, more than 2,496 people have been murdered and many have been kidnapped. This is the president with the most expensive cars in the history of the country,” said the politician.
