U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore has urged President Bola Tinubu to rescue Reverend Father Nathaniel Asuwaye of Holy Trinity Parish in Kaduna, who was kidnapped alongside 10 others.

In a statement on X on Monday, Mr Moore lamented the abduction of the Catholic priest and his parishioners, just as he urged Mr Tinubu to end alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria.

“Please join me in praying for the safe return of Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye of Holy Trinity Parish in Kaduna, who was kidnapped alongside 10 others,” Mr Moore said. “Three of his parishioners were brutally murdered by radical Islamic jihadists during the attack.”

Against the backdrop of Mr Asuwaye’s abduction and other attacks recorded last week, Mr Moore said, “The last week has been some of the most horrifically bloody days in recent history for Christians across Nigeria.”

He added, “The genocide of Christians must end, and it falls squarely on the Nigerian government’s shoulders to defend its citizens—all of its citizens—and end this violent persecution.”

Mr Moore, an arrowhead in the campaign over Christian ‘genocide’ in Nigeria, has continually raised the alarm over the killing of Christians in Africa’s most populous country by terrorists.

In response to a sustained campaign on Christian genocide in Nigeria, President Donald Trump in November last year declared Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern.

The American president followed it up, ordering the U.S. military to bomb terrorists in Sokoto State on Christmas Day.
