President Bola Tinubu has renewed Idris Bugaje’s appointment as executive secretary of the National Board for Technical Education.

The announcement was made in a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Wednesday.

The renewal afforded Mr Bugaje a second and final term of five years following the expiration of his first term.

The statement noted that Mr Bugaje’s reappointment followed a careful review of his performance, leadership record, and the significant transformation in the technical and vocational education and training sub-sector under his stewardship.

It cited NBTE’s achievements under Mr Bugaje’s watch, including strategic repositioning and strengthening of Nigeria’s TVET ecosystem, comprehensive curriculum modernisation, and the development and review of 100 national curricula in line with global skills demands.

Mr Tinubu urged the NBTE boss to use his second term to consolidate ongoing reforms and complete the critical initiatives already underway, according to the statement.

Mr Bugaje was first appointed as NBTE executive secretary on March 14, 2021, for an initial term of five years.
