Tinubu releases workout video from London hideout as health rumour lingers

Amid concerns about his health status, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, says he is “healthy” and still in the race for the country’s top seat in 2023.
Mr Tinubu, who shared a seven seconds workout video on his Twitter handle, where he was seen riding on a stationary bicycle, also denied that he had withdrawn from the February 2023 presidential election.
“Many have said I have died; others claim I have withdrawn from the presidential campaign,” the APC candidate tweeted on Sunday through his verified handle to show Nigerians, especially his critics a ‘poof of life’.
“Well… Nope. This is the reality: I am strong, I am healthy and I am READY to serve Nigerians from Day One.”
Mr Tinubu’s health has been a major concern for Nigerians while his whereabouts in the past few days had also generated heavy criticism.
The APC candidate had been absent at three key events leading to 2023 presidential, most especially at the signing of the peace accord between candidates taking part in the election, held in Abuja, on Thursday.
At least fifteen presidential candidates jostling for the 2023 presidential race attended the peace accord but Mr Tinubu was represented by his running-mate, Kashim Shettima, and this has further raised questions about his preparedness to govern the country.
The former Lagos governor had been in the United Kingdom where he is believed to be receiving treatment.
Following intense pressure, the spokesman for Mr Tinubu’s APC campaign council, Bayo Onanuga, had on Friday confirmed his whereabouts.
“Tinubu’s whereabouts. He is in London, in his house. Tinubu left Nigeria on Saturday night for a short break and in readiness for what will certainly be a gruelling campaign. I saw him, spoke with him two hours before he left. He was hale and hearty. He was not ill. He didn’t go to treat any ailment,” Mr Onanuga wrote on his Facebook page.
