The federal government has urged Nigerians living in China to continue promoting the country’s cultural heritage to foster nation-building.

The government also urged them to always live peacefully with their hosts.

Akinremi Bolaji, Director of Trade, Economic, and Investment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated this in his virtual address on Monday during the commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th National Day ceremony organised by Nigerians living in Guangzhou, China.

He commended the Nigerians in Guangzhou for their leadership and commitment toward fostering unity among compatriots within their host country.

Mr Bolaji said, “I commend you for bringing together people from different tribes together, this is encouraging in promoting a better future for our beloved country.

“Nigeria has come a long way in 64 years. Hope is rising with our new administration’s eight-point agenda. I, therefore, urge you to continue to be good ambassadors of Nigeria.

”Also, take advantage of opportunities that abound, especially with the recent Official State visit by President Bola Tinubu to China, to deepen China-Nigeria relations through people-to-people exchange.”

He added, “By so doing and working closely together as a community, Nigerians can contribute their quota toward building a much better future and fostering a stronger relationship with China.”

George Onwuekwe, the consul general in Guangzhou, underscored the need for Nigerians to key into President Tinubu’s 4D agenda to advance development, infrastructure, economic growth, and social welfare.

Mr Onwuekwe Said, “We appreciate support and cooperation from the Guangzhou government, which is enabling our citizens to thrive.

“This positive development has further strengthened Nigeria-China partnership, fostered economic growth, cultural exchange and people-to-people relations.”

Olarenwaju Oba, president of the Nigerian community in Guangzhou, commended Nigerians for turning out in large numbers to celebrate and display patriotism and unity.

“I urge you to seize this opportunity to rededicate yourself to Nigeria’s progress and development, to ensure sustainable growth through this memorable event. Nigeria can be much better through our fostering unity, cultural exchange, and renewed sense of purpose among ourselves in China,” Mr Oba said.
