Tinubu’s Muslim/Muslim presidency fueling Christians genocide in Nigeria: Rev Dachomo
Regional leader of the Church of Christ in Nations, Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, on Monday, linked the All Progressives Congress’ Muslim-Muslim ticket to the furore over alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu, a Muslim, contested and won the 2023 presidential poll alongside another Muslim as his deputy, Kashim Shettima.
Accusing the two top government officials of serving Muslims perspective and interest, the Plateau State-based cleric, in an interview with Channels TV on Monday, demanded the removal of the vice-president, as well as the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Mr Dachomo noted the need to remove Mr Shettima and Mr Ribadu as an important measure towards addressing the country’s current security challenges and ensuring unity between Christian and Muslim believers.
“The way forward is to remove Shettima. Remove Ribadu, he is the security adviser, all his advice is to serve the Muslim perspective. If not, it is genuine all this crisis would have gone. What is he advising? The advice is biased,” Mr Dachomo said.
“Shettima is Muslim, the president is Muslim, is that not complete genocide to Christians in the political world? I stand on it. They are displaying Islamic agenda. All christians should wake up. Wake up from their slumber says the Bible, because the people are out to force Christians to become Muslims by force,” the cleric added.
Commenting on the current state of insecurity in Plateau State, Mr Dachomo noted that the situation, in the past two weeks, had been well under control.
“I can say it is getting better because I have never heard, in the past two weeks, that anybody was killed. And that is what we are advocating, to live in peace, both the Muslims and the Christians.”
“For the past two weeks, even the destruction of crops, I have not come across such news. The Fulani are calm. The Senate sent their committee on security to come for findings in Plateau State and I happen to be there, because my aim and target is for us to have peace,” he said.
Faulting the federal government’s handling of insecurity and its effects on Christians, the cleric warned that the ongoing failure to stop attacks on Christians could force them to take up self-defence.
He condemned attempts to justify reprisal on farmers, noting that provocations such as farm invasion have been the major reason farmers apply chemicals on their crops.
Mr Dachomo stated, “We will start putting chemicals on our lands, and if their cows die, we are ready for self-defence. It is not like before.”
The cleric noted that the weak performance of the security agencies in the country could be linked to the integration of repentant Boko Haram members, who compromise the system by sharing sensitive information with the terrorists.
“The security has been polluted with the absorption of repentant Boko Haram. Tinubu is saying he will recruit 20,000. What would be the number of Christians? If Christians are up to 2000 then we would say they’ve tried?” the cleric stated.
