Tinubu’s record on economy, security ‘very poor,’ says ex-presidential aide Baba-Ahmed

Former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political Matters, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, on Tuesday, said the president’s record on the economy and security is very poor.
Mr Baba-Ahmed, the former spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum, made this statement in an interview with Channels TV on Tuesday night.
“I am saying President Tinubu’s record on management of the economy and security is very poor,” Mr Baba-Ahmed said when asked if Mr Tinubu stands a chance in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election.
Mr Baba-Ahmed said Nigerians are living under a “horrendous economic situation” under Mr Tinubu’s government.
The former NEF spokesperson said a credible opposition candidate will defeat the incumbent president in a free and fair election.
Mr Baba-Ahmed was appointed a presidential aide on September 18, 2023, and tendered his resignation in March 2025, citing that he was underutilised by Mr Tinubu’s government.
“If it were all about me, quite possibly I would have stayed longer. But I felt I could have been a lot more useful to the country and to the administration,” he told Arise News.
