Title race setback for Arsenal as Gunners bottle two-goal lead in draw with Wolves

Arsenal threw away a two-goal lead to settle for a 2-2 draw against bottom side Wolves at the Molineux Stadium on Wednesday night as they further slipped in the Premier League title race.
Following the 1-1 draw against Brentford in the last league game last week, Wednesday game was important for the Gunners to widen the gap between themselves and Manchester City with a win but the Gunners completely bottled the opportunity.
Bukayo Saka put Arsenal ahead just five minutes into the encounter, before Piero Hincapie smashed home Gabriel’s assist in the 56th minute after going through on goal to double the visitors’ lead.
However, Hugo Bueno pulled one back for Wolves just after the hour mark as the left back bent the ball into the top right corner of the net from the edge of the box.
With nothing to lose, the hosts continued to push for an equaliser and got it deep into added time when debutant Tom Edozie fired the ball from the centre of the box, which struck Riccardo Calafiori’s leg into the net.
The result meant that the Gunners only managed to extend their lead over Manchester City to five points, with City still having a game in hand.
Speaking after the match, Saka said “It is very fast. We are very disappointed with the result, especially how we played in the second half. It is time to reflect on our last few performances and fix things.
“We have a lot of quality to win games, especially the ones we have dropped points.”
