To reduce the wait period to obtain visas, the U.S. government is asking intending travellers to apply for visas through embassies in other nations.

With a current wait time of 638 days in Mumbai, and 596 days in New Delhi in India, the American embassy urged intending travellers to fly to other nations for a speedy visa application process.

The foreign government said that its embassy in Thailand — with only a 14-day wait period — has opened B1/B2 appointment capacity for Indians in “the country in the coming months.”

In the top nations where the B1 and B2 American visa application process is expedited, first-time travellers must undergo a physical interview before they can be issued or denied the visas.

Kuwait is top on the list with the shortest wait period of only one day, followed closely by Hong Kong with a two-day wait time. Singapore and Phnom Penh in Cambodia both have a wait period of seven days.

Bangkok and Chiang Mai in Thailand are other travel destinations where applicants only have to wait 14 days to be issued American visas following successful interviews. Frankfurt in Germany has a waiting period of 17 days.

In Kuala Lumpur, U.S.-bound travellers are assured of getting visa interview dates after 23 days, while in Qatar, it takes only 30 days.

Persons applying from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, can get U.S. visas after 53 days, and those from Melbourne, Australia, will only wait for 58 days.

For people in London, UK, the wait period remains 78 days and applicants from Berlin in Germany are promised interview dates after 81 days.
