Top ten personalities, artistes Nigerians searched for on Google in 2025

The top 10 results of Nigeria’s Google Year in Search 2025 reveal that public curiosity peaked around high-profile figures across politics, sports, film, music, and social media conversations. Some personalities appeared in both the ‘People’ and ‘Artistes’ categories, showing their broad influence.
Below is the list of the most searched Nigerians in the ‘People’ category for 2025.
1. Natasha Akpoti
The senator topped searches following sustained public attention around her political and sexual controversies with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
2. Eberechi Eze
Search interest in the footballer surged as Nigerians followed his club performances and his transfer to Arsenal from Crystal Palace, where he was unveiled as the Gunners’ new No. 10.
3. Siminalayi Fubara
The Rivers governor trended amid his suspension from office by President Bola Tinubu in March and political feud with his estranged godfather, FCT minister Nyesom Wike.
4. Chika Ike
The actress saw a surge in online searches following widespread rumours that she was pregnant for Senator Ned Nwoko and that he intended to take her as a seventh wife. She later dismissed the claims as she welcomed a baby girl in March.
5. Mr Eazi
Search interest surged around Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Ajibade following his lavish and widely admired wedding to actress and lifestyle creator Temi Otedola. The couple celebrated their union with three ceremonies held in Monaco, Dubai, and Iceland.
6. Kemi Adetiba
Search interest in filmmaker Kemi Adetiba surged following the release of ‘To Kill a Monkey’, which quickly gained traction and became one of the most talked-about films of the year. The movie generated widespread discussion across social media and film circles, with viewers praising its storytelling, performances and production quality.
7. Ajibola Elizabeth
Search interest rose after she went viral for publicly announcing her conversion to Christianity, following years of working as a porn actress.
8. Hilda Baci
The chef and entrepreneur remained a frequent search subject after her second Guinness World Record attempt, bringing home the award for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
9. VeryDarkMan (VDM)
Martins Vincent Otse, the social media critic and activist, drew a strong interest after his fight on a flight with popular comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, aka Mr Jollof.
10. Priscilla Ojo
The influencer and actress trended due to her extravagant wedding with Tanzanian singer Juma Mkambala, aka Juma Jux, and ‘womb watchers’ criticising her for getting pregnant before marriage. She dismissed the rumours, explaining that she was already legally married before the public ceremony.
‘Artistes’ category
1. Aaron Pierre
The English actor saw a surge in search interest in Nigeria, driven by his compelling performances and the growing public fascination with his roles.
2. Chika Ike
The actress also reappeared among the most searched artistes, reflecting sustained interest in her work among Nigerians. She also runs a YouTube channel, Chika Ike TV, where she produces and shares her films.
3. Juma Jux
Juma Jux trended in Nigeria in 2025 not only for his music but also due to his marriage to actress and content creator Priscilla Ojo, which introduced him to a wider audience. Following the buzz from his wedding, he continued to attract attention with his songs and is set to headline a concert in Lagos this December.
4. Mr Eazi
The artiste appeared again in the rankings after renewing attention to his music throughout the year. In 2025, he released an album, “Maison Rouge”, after his last album, ‘The Evil Genius’, was dropped in 2023. He also released many other singles this year, like ‘Casanova’, and a collaborative song ‘See What We’ve Done’ featuring King Promise, for which he shot the music video during his wedding in Iceland.
5. Kemi Adetiba
Search interest remained high due to updates around her film and television projects.
6. Kim Sae Ron
The South Korean actress trended among Nigerian Google searches in 2025 following widespread news of her death at the age of 24. She began her career as a child and starred in films such as ‘A Brand New Life’ and ‘The Man from Nowhere’. Her sudden death may have renewed interest online, leading many Nigerians to search for reports and background information about her life and work.
7. Mavo
Oseremen Marvin Ukanigbe, aka Mavo, saw his search interest surge after he emerged as one of 2025’s breakout music sensations in Nigeria, with his unique sound and viral tracks. His hit songs include ‘Escaladizzy’ and its remix featuring Davido, as well as his feature on Ckay’s ‘Body’. His music style earned him recognition as Billboard’s African Rookie of the Month in November 2025.
8. Peju Ogunmola
The veteran actress trended after the death of her only son in September; she later returned to acting months after mourning her son.
9. Teyana Taylor
Search interest in the American singer and actress rose due to her fashion and fitness influence and high-profile relationship with actor Aaron Pierre, which sparked interest among Nigerians.
10. Fola
Folarin Odunlami, aka Fola, the fast-rising musician, drew attention following his single ‘You’. The artiste has since released other singles and collaborations with artists like Wizkid, Kizz Daniel and BNXN.
