Talks are ongoing in Abuja by ECOWAS leaders to resolve the political impasse and release of Mr Bazoum in Niger.
President Bola Tinubu and other leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are meeting on Thursday in Abuja.
The restraint the U.S. is exercising from declaring the overthrow a coup is only a means to an end, according to a report.
“The secretary general is very concerned over the deplorable living conditions that President Bazoum and his family are reported to be living under.”
“After sixteen weeks of conflict in Sudan, more than four million people have been displaced within the country and across borders into neighbouring countries.”
The newly appointed prime minister, Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, will lead 21 new ministers forming the new government.
“I was not sent by the government…, but it was my personal initiative, using my personal contacts to get there…It is my duty as a leader to do that.”
“That’s why we’re here, and our able leader and president accepted the offer that he wants us to intervene and to talk to our brothers over there in Niger Republic.”
It is still unclear whether Mr Sanusi met with Mr Tchiani on personal grounds or as a representative of ECOWAS.
The flags have been in demand since President Mohamed Bazoum was toppled in a military takeover last month.
