Junaidu Bello-Mashal, Kebbi’s attorney general, on Wednesday disbursed N3 million cash to over 80 households in Gwandangwaji Quarters Extension, Birnin Kebbi LGA.
Lent is characterised by fasting, abstinence and giving of alms.

The governor also urged Christian and Muslim faithful to use the period to deepen their commitment to God and humanity.
“If our leaders emulate Christ, we will not hear about electoral malpractice or manipulation,” said the Catholic priest.
The governor described it as both divine and strategic that Muslims and Christians began their 2026 fasting on the same day.
The event marked the first state-backed Christian pilgrimage in over a decade, following its discontinuation by previous administrations.
While felicitating the Nigerian Muslim Ummah, the Sultan urged them to continue praying for peace, progress, and the development of the country.
