Governor Abba Yusuf declared a 24-hour curfew on Thursday following the massive looting at public buildings in Kano.
Hoodlums armed with various weapons took to the streets in parts of the Kano metropolis, attacking shops and offices and looting property.
“The protesters also burnt an Armoured Personnel Carrier and looted many shops. They tried to invade Government House but were prevented,” said the police.

The subscribers, who spoke in separate interviews on Tuesday in Kano, said the situation caused them untold hardship.
“Because they lost the election and don’t want to accept it in good faith. They want to cause violence and chaos,” Mr Kabo.
According to him, the NSCDC is working with other security agencies to ensure a crisis-free protest in and outside the Kano metropolis.
Kano State manages seven million primary and secondary school students across its 44 local government areas.
