The Sokoto chapter of the African Democratic Congress has adopted former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Voting concluded on Saturday across 8,809 wards in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He was unanimously adopted by delegates from the 21 local government areas of the state.
The state party chairman said he emerged as a consensus candidate in the interest of cohesion, stability and electoral success.
He said Benue was at a critical stage, with citizens yearning for peace, security, economic growth, justice, and responsive leadership.
They cited Atiku’s track record in public service and private enterprise, describing him as a seasoned democrat.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, on emerging as the 2027 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
“There is a reason why the countries that claim protection from nuclear weapons are afraid of discussion of what these weapons actually do to people…,” Susi Snyder said.
He said he cherished the party and would never allow anyone to push him into acting against it.
