Tottenham Hotspur fire Antonio Conte
Tottenham Hotspur have fired their head coach Antonio Conte, who joined the club 16 months ago.
Spurs announced Conte’s exit via a statement on Sunday night.
“We can announce that Head Coach Antonio Conte has left the Club by mutual agreement,” the statement reads in part.
Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason will take over as Spurs’ acting Head Coach and assistant Head Coach, respectively for the rest of the season.
Spurs Chairman in the statement was quoted to have said “We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place.
“We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters.”
In his first season at Spurs, Conte helped the club achieve Champions League qualification. But Spurs have had a bad run under Conte’s watch, especially getting knocked out of the Champions League by AC Milan.
