A 27-year-old trader, Peace Atima, on Wednesday appeared before the Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly stealing 60 clothing items and five mannequin legs, worth N265,000.

The prosecution counsel, Inspector Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 18 at Teju-Osho Modern Market, Lagos.

Mr Ekhueorohan alleged that Mr Atima stole a bag containing 60 clothing items worth N240,000 and five mannequin legs, worth N25,000, property of Uwaoma Abraham.

The offence, Mr Ekhueorohan said, contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Mr Atima pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Sadiq Bello admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N150, 000 with one surety in like sum

Mr Bello adjourned the case until March 17 for substantive trial.
