A magistrates’ court in Jos on Monday sentenced a 25-year-old trader, Bello Mohammed, to six months’ imprisonment for stealing a vehicle.

The magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Mr Bokkos, however, gave Mr Muhammed the option of a fine of N15,000.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the Force Headquarters, Jos, by a team of police officers led by Lannli Nabodo on May 25.

Mr Gokwat said the officers received a call and rushed to the scene where the convict was caught with the vehicle belonging to Ali Adamu.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code Law.
