Traffic grinds to halt on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after multiple crashes
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency has disclosed that a multiple-vehicle crash on Monday has caused severe gridlock along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and the Sinoma/El-Dorado–Ibafo axis.
TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi, in a traffic advisory on Tuesday, did not disclose whether anyone was injured in the crash and urged motorists to consider alternative routes to avoid the gridlock.
Mr Akinbiyi said, “Severe gridlock is ongoing along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, especially around the Sinoma/El-Dorado–Ibafo axis, following a multiple crash on the outbound roadway yesterday.
“Current Situation: The crash at Sinoma (outbound Ibadan) has blocked traffic flow; Impatient drivers crossing into the opposite lane (inbound Lagos) have worsened the situation; Both directions are now heavily congested, with traffic building up from the Interchange axis towards Lagos and outbound towards Ibadan.
“Advisory to Motorists: Exercise patience and avoid driving against traffic; Refrain from lane indiscipline; Follow instructions from TRACE, FRSC, and Police officers on the ground. Alternative Routes: Motorists are advised to consider: Old Lagos-Sango-Ifo-Ewekoro-Abeokuta Expressway; Sagamu-Sotubo-Ogijo-Ikorodu Expressway; Ijebu-Ode–Epe Expressway.”
