Transport minister mourns five killed in Gombe LPG tanker accident

The Minister of Transportation, Said Alkali, has expressed deep condolences to the families and people of Gombe State over the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanker that killed five persons.
The incident happened in Lawanti village along the Bauchi-Gombe highway on Monday.
In a statement on Tuesday by his media aide, Alkali Jibril, the minister described the incident as a huge loss to the bereaved families and people of the state.
According to him, the incident is a huge loss not only to the bereaved families but also to the state as a whole, given the circumstances that led to their death.
“I express deep condolences to the people of Lawanti district of the Akko local government area, Gombe State.
“Also, particularly to the families of five who lost their lives in a tragedy that involved a liquefied petroleum gas, which crammed into them at Lawanti village along the Bauchi–Gombe highway on Monday, January 12, 2026.
“I pray for the repose of the departed souls and ask God Almighty to grant their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
“I equally pray for the speedy recovery of those who sustained injuries in the accident,” he said.
