Tributes pour in as Sound Sultan passes on at 44

The 44 year old singer was regarded as one of the pacesetters of modern hip hop music in Nigeria and was evidently loved by many.

Barely a few hours after the death of legendary musician Sound Sultan was announced by his family, numerous fans and celebrities have taken to various social media platforms to express their heartwarming tribute to the deceased artist.

On-air personality Daddy Freeze posted a picture of himself alongside the deceased on his Instagram page with the caption: “Rest in peace legend, may your family be granted the fortitude to bear this great loss.”

Veteran movie actress Kate Henshaw posted a video of the deceased on her Instagram page expressing her grief as she wrote: “I have never called you and you say no to my request and vice versa…..you show up every blessed time on time too.

“I know Allah will receive you because you gave off yourself every single time, no question asked.

“My ancestor, we joked about how you never aged a day all these years. Rest on my dear friend and brother.”

Popular movie actor, Richard Mofe Damijo, who recently clocked 60 and was celebrated by the deceased a few days ago wrote, “Did you know when you wished me happy birthday three days earlier than usual that you won’t have the strength to do it later?

“Words will never be enough men, my brother.

“Love you men.”

“Just read in the daily punch newspaper too, I am shocked and sad at the passing of Sound Sultan, he is family, I pray our creator gives his family strength at this time, RIP Sound Sultan,” Afrobeat maestro Femi Kuti wrote.

“This is such terrible terrible news!! Sound Sultan, the legend, I dare say one of the funniest persons ever, and definitely one of the greatest musicians to walk the face of the earth! May God rest your soul Sound Sultan

“May your legacy continue to live forever and ever,” comedian MC Lively wrote, expressing his grief.

Numerous other fans of the artist are also mourning the death of the music legend on different platforms.

Nigerians learnt of the sad passing of the ‘Jagbajantis’ crooner Sunday morning. He succumbed to the cold hands of death after battling with cancer, his brother Kayode Fasasi announced.
