Troops of Operation UDO KA have dismantled a terrorist hideout and rescued three kidnapped victims in Anambra State.

In a statement on Friday, the army said troops of 185 Battalion conducted the operation in conjunction with the Anambra Vigilante Group.

It said the operation was part of the army’s efforts to disrupt terrorist networks, deny them freedom of action and protect communities across the South-East.

According to the statement, following the abduction of three persons around the Osakwa General Area of the Ihiala Local Government Area, troops of Operation UDO KA, working with the Anambra Vigilante Group, launched a rescue operation and recovered the victims.

“On 1 October 2026, troops subsequently conducted a snap operation and arrested one of the suspected kidnappers, identified as Mr Sunday Obi,” the army said.

The army said the suspect, during interrogation, provided information that led troops to the syndicate’s camp at Abator in the Ogbaru Local Government Area, across the Isieke waterside.

“Acting on the intelligence, combined troops launched an operation to the identified location, employing canoes to cross the waterways and access the terrorist hideout,” it said.

The army said troops engaged the terrorists with overwhelming firepower upon reaching the area, forcing them to flee with gunshot wounds.

It said the operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles with magazines, three pump-action guns, three locally fabricated Dane guns, 62 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition and 149 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.

Troops also recovered two cartridges and materials suspected to be intended for the fabrication of improvised explosive devices.

Other items recovered from the hideout included a solar generator, power bank, car battery, two motorcycle batteries, two solar panels
