Troops rescue seven kidnap victims in Plateau

Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have rescued seven kidnapped victims in Riyom Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau.
Maj. Samson Zhakom, the OPSH media Officer, disclosed this in a statement in Jos on Tuesday.
Mr Zhakom said the victims were rescued on March 7 following an aggressive operation conducted by its troops in the area.
“Our troops have rescued seven kidnapped victims in Riyom LGA of Plateau, following offensive operations conducted at Attakar high grounds in Ganawuri district of the area.
“The operation carried out based on intelligence reports, revealed that kidnappers were keeping some victims abducted along the Jos – Ganawuri road.
“During the operation, troops made contact with the kidnappers, and superior firepower forced them to flee into the high grounds.
“Troops also recovered a bag containing a blanket and clothing materials abandoned by the criminals,” he said.
Mr Zhakom said the victims had been reunited with their families and promised that the troops would soon arrest the kidnappers.
He called on the residents of Plateau to support OPSH with useful information that would lead to the arrest of the kidnappers and other criminal elements in the state.
