Trump announces blocking South Africa from attending 2026 G20 meeting in U.S.

President Donald Trump, on Wednesday, said the U.S. shunned the G20 Summit held in South Africa because the country failed to acknowledge and address human rights abuses and the killing of white farmers. The American president then announced that South Africa would not be invited to the 2026 G20 meeting in the United States.

“The United States did not attend the G20 in South Africa, because the South African Government refuses to acknowledge or address the horrific human rights abuses endured by Afrikaners, and other descendants of Dutch, French, and German settlers.

“To put it more bluntly, they are killing white people, and randomly allowing their farms to be taken from them,” Mr Trump said.

He said South Africa would not be invited to the G20 summit next year, and the U.S. will cut all support and aid to the country, berating South Africa for refusing to hand off the “G20 presidency to a senior representative from our U.S. embassy, who attended the closing ceremony”.

“At my direction, South Africa will not be receiving an invitation to the 2026 G20, which will be hosted in the great city of Miami, Florida, next year,” Mr Trump declared. “South Africa has demonstrated to the world they are not a country worthy of membership anywhere, and we are going to stop all payments and subsidies to them, effective immediately.”

Mr Trump also berated American media platforms for not raising the alarm against “this genocide” in South Africa. President Cyril Ramaphosa debunked the claim.

In February, Mr Trump suspended aid to South Africa over allegations that white South African farmers were being killed and persecuted. Mr Trump also offered White South Africans relocation to the U.S. as refugees.

Aside from expelling South Africa’s ambassador Ebrahim Rasool from the U.S., Mr Trump, in a meeting at the Oval Office in May, challenged President Cyril Ramaphosa over violent attacks on white farmers.
