On Sunday, former American President Donald Trump launched a fundraiser to support victims of the Pennsylvania shooting.

A gofundme account opened to crowdfund $1,000,000 to support those killed and injured during a shooting at Mr Trump’s camping on Saturday reads: “President Donald Trump has authorised this account as a place for donations to the supporters and families wounded or killed in today’s brutal and horrific assassination attempt.”

A spokesperson for Mr Trump said his campaign recognised the crowdfunding page and encouraged supporters to contribute whatever they could.

It added, “All donations will be directed to these proud Americans as they grieve and recover. May God bless and unite our nation.”

Over $431,000 has been raised as of the time of filing this report on Sunday afternoon.

This comes in the wake of the assassination attempt on Mr Trump’s life during his campaign on Saturday at Butler, Pennsylvania. The shooting saw a bullet ripping through Mr Trump’s ear, leaving one dead and other injured.

The shooter, who was identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old Pennsylvanian, was neutralised by the Secret Service men moments after he opened fire on the campaign grounds.

The incident has attracted global condemnation as U.S. authorities promise to investigate the issue further as footage showing Mr Trump with blood on his face and ear has gone viral, capturing the unsettling nature of the shooting.

Saturday’s shooting at Mr Trump’s during the Pennsylvania rally marked another incident in U.S. political history, adding to the list of presidential candidates shot at.
