Trump campaign rakes in $35 million hours after controversial conviction

The Donald Trump campaign has raked in almost $35 million six hours after a jury convicted him on a 34-count charge of concealing payment and information about an alleged sexual indiscretion to porn star, Stormy Daniels, before the 2016 presidential polls.
Mr Trump’s campaign, on Friday, attributed the surge in donations to the “sham Biden trial” and conviction which his team said “awakened the MAGA movement like never before.”
“From just minutes after the sham trial verdict was announced, our digital fundraising system was overwhelmed with support, and despite temporary delays online because of the amount of traffic, President Trump raised $34.8 million dollars from small dollar donors,” reads a statement by Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, who are senior staff of Mr Trump’s campaign.
The Trump team stressed that a chunk of the donors were brand new, implying they might have been converted to pro-Trump following delivery of the 12 jurors verdict.
“Not only was the amount historic, but 29.7% of yesterday’s donor’s were brand new donors to the WinRed platform,” the statement added. “President Trump and our campaign are immensely grateful from this outpouring of support from patriots across our country.”
The Republican presidential campaign said although 12 jurors might have found Mr Trump guilty of the falsification charges, the real verdict would be issued at the November polls where Mr Trump is anticipated to unseat Joe Biden.
“President Trump is fighting to save our nation and November 5th is the day Americans will deliver the real verdict.”
