Trump fires Pamela Bondi as attorney general, appoints Todd Blanche

U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday announced the dismissal of Attorney General Pamela Bondi and appointed Todd Blanche as her replacement.
Mr Trump announced the development in a post on Truth Social, stating that Ms Bondi would be leaving his administration to take up a new role in the private sector.
“Pam Bondi is a great American patriot and a loyal friend, who has faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year,” Mr Trump said.
He added, “We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much-needed and important new role in the private sector, to be announced in the near future. Our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected legal mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General.”
The president commended Ms Bondi for what he described as a “tremendous job” in overseeing a broad crackdown on crime across the country, claiming that murder rates had fallen to their lowest level since 1900.
Ms Bondi’s departure follows the earlier removal of Kristi Noem as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in March.
Senator Markwayne Mullin subsequently replaced Mrs Noem.
