TV station attacked, worker shot dead in Albania
A security guard was gunned down in an attack on Albanian largest broadcast media house early Monday.
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama called the attack “worrying,” offering condolences to the victim’s family and the TV station staff.
He called for “everyone’s solidarity at this very worrying moment.”
The 60-year-old guard was in a booth outside the Top Channel headquarters in Tirana when he was hit by a burst of gunfire from a passing SUV.
The police stated that there was no possible motive for the attack and added that an investigation was ongoing.
They also stated that the attackers used a Kalashnikov, and the SUV used for the attack was found 40km away from the scene of the attack, where it had been set on fire.
The U.S. embassy in Tirana condemned the shooting.
“We urge law enforcement to carry out a comprehensive investigation that will bring perpetrators to justice,” the embassy said.
