Twenty-year-old charged for sexual harassment

A 20- year-old student, Ebere Obasi, who allegedly sexually harassed a 15-year-old, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The police charged Mr Obasi, whose address was not provided, with a count charge of sexual harassment of a minor.

The student, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 22 on Segun Matanmi Street Akesan, Lagos.

Mr Ajayi said that the defendant touched the breast of the teenager and tapped her buttocks, in contravention of  the provisions of Section 265 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Ejiro Kubeinje, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Mr Kubeinje directed that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case until June 6 for mention.
