Two men, Mohammed Ali, 30 and Aliyu Ibrahim, 25, were on Tuesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged illegal possession of a motorcycle.

The defendants, of unknown addresses, are facing a charge of illegal possession of motorcycle.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on January 17 at about 4:00 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.

Mr Oriyomi said that the defendants had in their possession one Bajaj motorcycle suspected to have been stolen.

He said that the offence contravened Section 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.

Counsel to the defendants, Oluwafemi Alabi, urged the court to grant them bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50,000 each, with one surety each in like sum.

He adjourned the case till February 12 for hearing.(NAN)
