Two arraigned over alleged theft of aluminium frames, roofing sheets

The police on Friday dragged two men before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly stealing aluminium frames and rooting sheets.
The defendants, Dauda Ayuba, 22; and Ibrahim Tukur,32, whose addresses were not provided, are standing trial on a two-count charge of stealing and causing damage.
They each, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP E.O Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on October16, at about 12 a.m. at General Hospital, in the Itele area of Ota.
Mr Adaraloye alleged that the defendants stole aluminium frames and aluminium rooting sheets, belonging to the Ogun State Government.
According to him, they unlawfully damaged the aluminium frames and rooting sheets, while trying to steal them.
The prosecutor said that they were however, caught by guards and handed over to the police.
He said that the value of the items had yet to be ascertained .
The offences contravene the provisions of sections 451 and 516 of the Criminal Code,Law of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, O.O.Fadairo, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of one million naira with one surety each in like sum.
She adjourned the case until December 19, for hearing. (NAN)
