Two arrested over alleged theft of motorcycle worth N800,000

The magistrate granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

Two men, Lukman Fatai and Azeez Akande, were on Friday arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, over an alleged theft of a motorcycle.

Fatai and Akande, both aged 23, whose addresses were not given, are being charged with conspiracy and stealing, to which they pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Tellang, told the court that the defendants committed the offences at about 2.00p.m on June 29, at Oranyan area of Ibadan.

Tellang said that the defendants stole a TVS motorcycle valued N800,000, belonging to the complainant, Taiwo Monsuru.

He further said that the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Moyosore Atanda, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case until September 8, for hearing.
