Two bodies found in JetBlue plane’s landing gear compartment in Florida

A grim discovery was made late Monday night when two bodies were found in the landing gear compartment of a JetBlue plane after it landed in Florida.
Flight 1801 had flown from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
The airline confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that the bodies were discovered during a routine post-flight maintenance check shortly after the plane touched down at 11:10 p.m.
New York Times reports that the paramedics at the scene pronounced the individuals dead, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
The flight, which departed New York at 7:49 p.m., carried passengers unaware of the tragic circumstances unfolding in the aircraft’s undercarriage.
Authorities have yet to determine how long the individuals were in the landing gear compartment or the circumstances leading to their deaths.
Incidents involving stowaways in landing gear compartments are rare but often fatal due to extreme temperatures and low oxygen levels at high altitudes.
