Two in court for allegedly stealing valuables worth N365,000

Two men; Bamidele Oluwadamilare, and Tande Tijani, on Tuesday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing valuables worth N365,000.
Oluwadamilare, 25 and Tijani, 32, are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, break and entry, stealing and breach of the peace.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on January 11 at 2.30p.m. at Ajara Tande, Badagry, Lagos.
Mr Adeosun said the defendants broke into the house of the complainant, Yemisi Toyon and stole her valuables.
He said that the defendants stole one Oraimo power bank valued at N9,000; one iPhone 11 phone worth N350,000 and one touch light valued at N6,000.
Mr Adeosun said the defendants also conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause beach of public peace.
“They also paraded themselves as members of Eiye confraternity and disturbed the residents of the community,” the prosecutor said.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 411, 168, 287 and 308 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Section 287 stipulates three years jail term for stealing, while Section 411 provides two years for conspiracy.
The Chief Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N400,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
Adekomaiya adjourned the case until February 5 for mention.
