Two killed, many injured as man rams vehicle into crowd in Germany

The motive of the driver is yet to be ascertained.

At least two people were killed and scores injured on Monday as a man rammed a vehicle into a crowd in Leipzig, the largest city in the German state of Saxony.

Saxon State Police, in a statement on X, confirmed the incident, explaining that “Currently, a police operation is taking place in the center of #Leipzig.”

“A car struck several people in Grimmaische Straße and fled,” the police said.

The police added, “The driver has been apprehended, and there is currently no further danger emanating from him. We will continue to provide updates.”

The motive of the driver is yet to be ascertained. However, the police have commenced investigations into the incident.
