The police on Monday arraigned two men before the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for stealing three cows valued at N12 million.

The defendants are Adamu Abdullah, 30; and Bachari Muhammed, 23.

The duo whose addresses were not stated are standing trial on charges bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

They each, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Friday Maneh, told the court that the defendants conspired to commit the offence on March 15, at about 8:50 p.m., at Shofoluwe Junction, in the Magbon area of Badagry.

He alleged that they stole three cows valued at N12 million belonging to a complainant, Kehinde Odumuyiwa.

They were alleged to have sold and converted the proceeds to their personal uses.

“The defendants were arrested and handed over to the police for prosecution,” he said

The chief magistrate, A. J. Aina, granted the defendants bail of N1 million each, with two sureties each in like sum.

The court held that one of the sureties must be a community leader.

He adjourned the case until May 12 for mention.
