Two Manchester United defenders will not take part in Premier League’s top of the table clash set for Sunday as a result of injuries.

Teenage sensation Brandon Williams and veteran Phil Jones have both been sidelined by injury, United’s Manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer said on Friday.

Left back Brandon Williams had recently benched older teammate Luke Shaw, taking up his spot in the starting lineup.

Phil Jones however been on the fringes of the first team with Solksjaer preferring teammates Harry Maguire, Eric Baily and Victor Lindelof ahead of him in the starting lineup.

Manchester United currently sit on top of the English Premier League with 36 points while being trailed closely by Liverpool who are currently on 33 points.

A win for Liverpool will put them on the same point with Manchester United but with a better goal difference.

Ahead of the clash, Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, had earlier in a press interview, implied that Manchester United were being favored by match officials due to the high number of penalties awarded to them.

Liverpool will also be without their star centre half, Van Dijk, who’s been out of action for over two months due to an injury .

Players like Matip and Chamberlain are also still being watched for their fitness.
