Two men arraigned for alleged N425,000 theft

Two men, Abiodun Ayinla and Sunday Adeniji, on Wednesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State, for allegedly stealing window frames and circuit change valued at N425,000.

Ayinla, 42, and Adeniji, 35, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a three-count charge of unlawful entering, stealing and conspiracy.

The prosecutor, Inspector E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences at Tosmos Close, Off Ijako Tipper Garage, Ota.

Adaraloye alleged that the defendants conspired among themselves and unlawfully entered into the house of the complainant, Opeyemi Akinkunle.

He said that the duo stole four pieces of aluminum window frame, a big circuit changeover and other items, valued at N425,000.

Adaraloye also said that the defendants were caught by a good Samaritan and handed over to the police.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 319, 412 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, O.O. Fadairo, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

Fadairo ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed.

He also ordered that the sureties must show evidence of tax payment to Ogun State Government.

He adjourned the case until January 20, 2025 for hearing.
