Two men arraigned over alleged theft of three cows worth N2.8 million

Two men were on Wednesday arraigned in Magistrates’ Court in Ota, Ogun State, for allegedly stealing three cows worth N2.8 million.
The police charged Charles Oji,42, and Joseph Lawrence,42, with conspiracy and theft.
They, however,pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecution Counsel, ASP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants and others, at large, committed the offence in May at about 3.30 a.m. at Osuke,Ota.
Mr Adaraloye alleged that the defendants and their accomplices stole three cows worth N2.8 million belonging to Musibau Alagbe.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 390 and 516 of the Criminal Code,Laws of Ogun, 2006.
Magistrate O.O.Fadairo admitted each of the defendants tobail in the sum of N2 millions with two sureties in like sum.
She said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The case was adjourned until June 15, for trial.
