Two men arrested for stealing bike

On Thursday, two men, Moses Timothy, 24, and Bala John, 27, were arraigned before the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for stealing a motorcycle worth N1.2 million.
The defendants, of unknown addresses, are facing a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendants and others at large committed the offence on Feb.19 at about 1:00 a.m. at Lane 4 Olujoda Area in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendants broke into the complainant’s compound, Mr Fagorusi Ifeoluwa, and stole Haegue Lucky’s black motorcycle, valued at N1.2 million, belonging to the complainant.
According to him, the offences contravene sections 322 and 302 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to the defendants, Gbenga Ariyibi, urged the court to grant them bail.
In her ruling, the chief magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted each defendant bail of N100,000 with one surety each in like sum.
She adjourned the case until March 28 for a hearing.
